About Wellness Communications

Carmella Martin - Founder & Wellness Marketing Specialist

Carmella Martin is a force for wellness in her right, having married her innate care for others with more than two decades of experience in marketing, public relations and sales. With charismatic flair and passion, she has established Wellness Communications to bring together a package of empathetic services to help clients get the right words in the right place at the right time…

She worked for Trinity Mirror and Little Red Media, before making her mark in the wellness industry in 2015, mostly in the care sector where she won The South East Regional ‘Care Innovator Award 2019’ at The Great British Care Awards.

“CARMELLA HAS A PASSION AND INSPIRATION TO DRIVE HEALTH AND WELLBEING FOR HER STAFF, SERVICE USERS AND FAMILIES, AND IS INSPIRATIONAL AND LIFE CHANGING. HER DRIVE TO SUPPORT AND HIGHLIGHT MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING IN AN INNOVATIVE WAY MADE HER A CLEAR WINNER AND SOMETHING SHE SHOULD BE PROUD OF.”

Great British Care Awards

In 2020, in a typically decisive move, she combined her finely-honed marketing and PR skills with her passion for the wellbeing industry to create Wellness Communications, in recognition of the need for informed and engaging communications in this rapidly growing industry.

Working in partnership with local freelance specialists who share her vision, Wellness Communications is committed to empowering wellness businesses to help them grow with authentic marketing, social media and communications that deliver genuine results.

Canterbury-based Carmella is also a mum, dog lover and mental health campaigner. As a result of a journey with her own mental health and working in the care industry, she has developed a genuine passion for helping others and raising awareness of the challenges facing the wellness industry and wider society in difficult times.

Through this vibrant, ambitious communications channel, Carnella Martin aims to set new standards in the promotion of businesses and the wellness industry.

Andrew South - Copywriting & Press

Described as one of the finest news and features writers in south-east Kent, Andrew has enjoyed an illustrious career in all aspects of communication, including publishing, public relations, marketing and journalism.  He has carved a reputation in the area for engaging and witty use of words in a language which readers understand – which is always a good place to start!

Since 2015 he has worked mainly on local publications, Cinque Ports Magazine and The Looker – the most read community publication for Romney Marsh, Hythe and Folkestone with around 10,000 readers – where he has built a fine collection of contacts across the district in local authorities, businesses, charities and event organisers.

And now he is keen to bring his considerable skills and experience to bare for Wellness Communications and its clients. With an ability to identify a genuine promotional opportunity and the tools to make it happen, he can research stories, interview relevant contacts, create media contact lists and communicate effectively with any targeted outlet and their all-important audience.

An enthusiastic swimmer, walker and cyclist he is keen to promote the benefits of the outdoors to everyone – an area which has gained an extraordinary amount of attention since the start of the pandemic, and where people have genuinely found huge mental and physical health benefits.

For Andrew, a place within the Wellness Communications team represents an exciting new challenge, and he is looking forward to developing fruitful working relationships with existing and future clients.

Liam Gomez - Web & Digital

With more than 15 years of experience in the IT industry, your online presence is in safe hands. Having worked as an IT Support Technician, as well as Web Services Manager for a reputable, Kent-based IT firm for a number of years, Liam decided to step down from his role and undertake freelance work in 2021, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As an early adopter of WordPress, Liam is well-placed to construct high-quality, attractive and reliable websites that capture your brand identity – or, if you already have an existing website – help you to maximise its potential. Liam also has a wealth of experience with many other popular content management systems and eCommerce platforms, and is fluent in HTML, CSS, and PHP.

Liam’s portfolio ranges from small, affordable, one-page business websites that enable businesses to establish a quality online presence quickly and cheaply, to bespoke recruitment portals and budding eCommerce empires! He can also consult and advise on other aspects of the digital world, including providing IT support, offering knowledge on data security and GDPR compliance, and helping you to reach new potential customers with social media management and search engine optimisation (SEO) services.

Liam was excited to be offered a place within the Wellness Communications team, and looks forward to helping people-focused businesses achieve their goals. With a strong focus on ecology and ethical business (including ensuring that our day-to-day web operations are not just carbon-neutral, but carbon-positive), you can extend the positive impact of your wellness business even further.
